Abstract

Science in the Digital-Age: Innovation Anchored in Scientific Integrity

The Direct Science Open Journal emerges in a scenario where scientific communication is profoundly impacted by digital technologies, the instant circulation of information, and the expansion of disciplinary boundaries. In this context, the editorial mission of a scientific journal cannot be limited to the function of a content repository, but must constitute a critical and responsible space for the production, dissemination, and validation of knowledge.
At the same time, this inaugural edition serves as a reaffirmation of principles and an institutional milestone. We are committed to open access, transparency in editorial processes, and the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, preserving, in a non-negotiable manner, the foundations that support scientific practice: rigorous peer review, methodological consistency, and academic integrity.
We are committed to open access, transparency in editorial processes, and the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, preserving, in a non-negotiable manner, the foundations that support scientific practice: rigorous peer review, methodological consistency, and academic integrity.
The adoption of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform reflects a strategic choice, driven by the need for modernization and the pursuit of greater scientific visibility. This environment enables traceable editorial flows, expands indexing in digital databases, and ensures the permanence and accessibility of records through persistent identifiers. More than a technological tool, the OJS constitutes a device for the democratization of knowledge on a global scale.
However, the use of digital era tools, such as artificial intelligence, preprint repositories, open science, and emerging digital resources, must be accompanied by the safeguarding of scientific quality, editorial autonomy, and ethical responsibility in academic production. This journal welcomes contributions from researchers at different stages of their careers and in various fields of knowledge, as long as they are grounded in scientific excellence and ethical principles that support responsible publishing.
The Direct Science Open Journal aims to be a space where innovation dialogues with tradition, where emerging fields are examined with analytical rigor, and where knowledge circulates swiftly, but without losing depth. Science in the digital ag demands not only new tools but, above all, collective discernment to shape responsibleand sustainable practices of scientific production.
We invite the national and international academic community to share this commitment, contributing to the construction of a transparent, inclusive editorial environment that is firmly committed to the quality and integrity of scientific production. With this purpose, let us together seek renowned indexers to consolidate this journal as a promoter of scientific knowledge.
